With another holiday season over and January upon us, if you’re anything like us you’ve no doubt accumulated a collection of prepaid gift cards from friends and family who were either too reluctant (or lazy) to brave the maelstrom of Christmas shopping or just genuinely had no idea what to buy you.

The problem is that for payment purposes, vendors see prepaid gift cards from VISA and MasterCard like regular credit cards. While you may find a brick-and-mortar retailer who is long-suffering enough to let you work through a large set of gift cards, many still have a limit to how many times you can split a transaction. On the other hand, if you’re ordering from Amazon — which is where some of the best deals can be had — you may find yourself totally stuck as Amazon doesn’t let you split payment across multiple credit cards at all.

An Apple Watch or iPhone that keeps unintentionally dialing 9-1-1 isn’t just annoying, it could actually turn out to be a problem for local authorities.

In some extreme cases, accidental butt-dials to 9-1-1 can gum up emergency services in an area. We’ve seen that with devices accidentally triggering in a repair facility. But what if your own device is doing it at home?

That’s what happened to one Redditor who reports that their Apple Watch keeps sending Emergency SOS messages to their emergency contacts.

According to the user, the phone will send an Emergency SOS when it isn’t being handled — such as when it’s on a table or in the passenger seat of a vehicle.

The Redditor contacted Apple Support, who only said that they should remove the case from their iPhone to see if it resolves the issue. And so, if this is happening to you, we recommend removing it to see it resolves the issue.
